It is important for the Ladakhi people to be fully informed about the question of development. Through knowledge and awareness, we hope to strengthen Ladakh’s ability to determine its future soundly. This includes illuminating the worldwide concern for protecting cultural and biological diversity. We believe that we can continue to discover and cultivate our own way ahead, which could provide important lessons for other societies throughout the world.

The Information, Education, and Cultural Preservation (IEC) team of LEDeG has been actively carrying out awareness program in Ladakh in collaboration with the local government, schools, and other concerned organizations. The IEC team has helped facilitate 23 of LEDeG’s publications and in the production of five audio cassettes on Ladakhi folk songs. The IEC team is also responsible for conducting seminars and workshops on environment and cultural issues.

LEDeG’s IEC team observes important dates and events like World Biodiversity Day with local schools and the CEE, Environment Day, polythene ban day through workshops, camping and training programs.
