Visit of the Deputy Director of BORDA Germany

Mr. Stefan Reuter, Deputy Director of Bremen Overseas Research & Development Association (BORDA), Germany visited Ladakh on August 16th to September 5th, 2009. The purpose of the visit was to review the project sites, funded by BORDA, which was implemented by LEDeG from the year 2000 onwards.

Mr. Reuter visited Fanjilla, Udmaroo, Purkitshey and Pangbar Yarkashing Micro Hydro Power Units and Panamic, Pinchimik and Ullay Tokpo Hydraulic Ram Pumps installation sites located at Leh and Kargil Districts. He also interacted with some Electricity Management Committee (EMC) members and the beneficiaries during his site-visits. The Micro Hydro Power Units and Hydraulic Ram Pumps installations were mainly under the project -‘Improving the living conditions of Marginalised people in remote villages of Ladakh region’, Year 2000-2008.

On September 2nd, 2009 Mr. Reuter was invited to Udmaroo Village by the villagers, to participate in the inauguration function of 30kVA Micro Hydro Power Unit and income generations end use machines installed in the village under ‘Rural Electrification Component’ Project which was jointly funded by European Union (EU) , Bremen Overseas Research and Development Association ( BORDA) and Groupe Energies Renouveable, Environment et Solidarites ( GERES), the project was implemented by Ladakh Ecological Development Group ( LEDeG). Mr. Reuter was given a traditional welcome by the villagers. Later, Mr.Reuter also visited the MHPU plant and income & employment generations units site at the village.
