Recruitment Advertisement of Admin cum Human Resource Officer & Accountant

Applications are invited for Administration Officer & Accountant positions in LEDeG for the Liveable Leh project:

ABOUT PROJECT:

The project titled, “Liveable, inclusive and resilient Himalayan city Leh: strengthen capacities of

the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council” is a projected funded by European Union and BORDA. The three year project continues from February 2018 to January 2021

Overall objective: This project will strengthen capacities of the local government, the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) to make Leh, its prominent capital city and surrounding areas more environmentally friendly, and a symbol of resilient and sustainable urban development.

Specific objective:

  1. Train LAHDC officials and strengthen institutions to conceptualize and develop Leh as a resilient and liveable mountain city;
  2. Prepare implementation plans to aggressively improve public services that have deep environmental impact (sewage treatment, waste management, green public spaces and transportation);
  3. Educate its 30,000 residents and 250,000+ tourists on issues around urban development

Estimated results:

Result 1: Capacity Building of local officials: Rigorously developed abilities of local officials to visualize Leh as a world-class “liveable” city and sustainable tourist destination.

Result 2: Development Planning: Created specific, actionable plans to develop Leh into a model sustainable and resilient city, specifically around solid and liquid waste management, transportation, open and public spaces and urban agriculture.

Result 3: Implementation to improve service delivery: Established city-wide FSM services to make Leh India’s 1st ODF+ hill town

ORGANISATION:

LEDeG, Leh is an NGO established in 1983 with aim of promoting ecological and sustainable development of Ladakh. LEDeG has done some outstanding work in the field of energy, livelihood, water and agriculture. This includes hundreds of micro-hyrdoplants and thousnads of solar home lighting systems. LEDeG was conferred with right to livelihood award, also known as alternative Nobel prize. LEDeG has branches in Kargil and Zanskar with its head office at Karzoo, Leh. The team consists of over 20 people with various backgrounds.

We are looking for an experienced Accountant and Administration cum Human Resource Officer.

 

1) ACCOUNTANT:

Location: The position is mainly based in Leh, Ladakh (J&K State)

Duration: 2 years minimum

Job Description & Responsibilities:

The Accountant is responsible for:

  • Monitoring and recording the flow of money on monthly basis
  • Verifying the accuracy of all monetary and cash transactions
  • Ensuring that all transactions are legal and as per organisations’ and Government guidelines
  • Ensuring compliance of all the statutory responsibilities pertaining to the project and NGO such as tax, FCRA, societies act etc.
  • Preparing financial reports and conducting audit of accounts.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Commerce (M.Com preferable)
  • Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with Indian NGO practices and accounting systems
  • Analytical skills and sound independent judgment in addressing accountancy & auditing problems
  • Computer skills especially proficiency in MS Excel and working knowledge of Tally package
  • Knowledge of taxation and taxation laws
  • Knowledge about international grants accounting would be valuable

 

Soft Skills/Aptitude:

  • Methodical and thorough
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Able to prioritise and handle a diverse and heavy workload
  • Team spirit

Experience: Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in professional accounting, preferably in NGO sector.

Languages: Fluency in English and Hindi is a minimum.

 

2) ADMIN CUM HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGER:

Location: The position is mainly based in Leh, Ladakh (J&K State)

Duration: 2 years minimum

Job Description & Responsibilities:

The Administration cum Human Resource Manager is responsible for:

  • Responsible for assisting director, project manager and accountant for all project administration related work
  • Ensure smooth running of office (day to day running management) including compliance of all project and lead partners regulations
  • Responsible for ensuing documentation (filing) of all the projects related documents including local contracts & agreements
  • Human resource management

 

Qualification:

  • Bachelor degree in any discipline; PG Diploma in Business Studies/ Administration/ Management, Human Resource Management or equivalent will be an added advantage

 

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with Indian NGO laws, rules and regulations
  • Analytical skills
  • Computer skills proficiency in MS Office (word, XL, ppt)
  • Knowledge about international grants regulations would be valuable

 

Soft Skills/Aptitude:

  • Possess strong sense of responsibility
  • Diligent, Methodical and thorough
  • Good working attitude – Flexible, adaptable and team spirit
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, multitask. Strongly results driven

Experience: Minimum 2-3 years’ experience
