Ladakh Ecological Development Group (LEDeG) organised a four-day Senior Leadership Training Programme at Ule Topo from July 19 to July 22 under Liveable Leh project which is funded by European union and BMZ . It was the first of the four modules of the senior training leadership programme.
Dr Thomas Reigner, who is a social scientist and whose work focuses on change processes in SMEs, public administrations and non-profit organisations, provided the training. Stanzin Tsephel, Regional Director South Asia, BORDA, was the moderator. The participants wereMoses Kunzang, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Leh, Rigzin Spalgon, Administrator, Municipal Committee Leh; Jigmet Raftan, Sub-District Magistrate, Nubra; Padma Angmo, Sub-District Magistrate, Kharu; Tsering Paldan, ACD, Rural Development Department; Mohammad Taqi, Assistant Director District Employmen; Zakir Hussain, District Panchayat Officer; Tsering Namgyal, Congress Youth Wing President; Dr. Nordan Otzer, Executive Director, Ladakh Ecological Development Group (LEDeG); Tsewang Rigzin, Bureau Chief, State Times; Morup Stanzin, editor, Times of Ladakh; Tashi Morup, Project Director, Ladakh Art and Media Organisation; Tsetan Angchuk, President, All ladakh Tours Operator Association (ALTOA); Delex Namgyal, General Secretary, ALTOA; Eshey Lamo, Advocate, and Tsering Chorol, Office Secretary, Congress Party.
The primary objective of the training programme was to build
capacities of local officials for the visualisation of Leh as a
world-class liveable city and sustainable tourist destination. Dr.Thomas focused on leadership skills, the different type of leaders,
tips to empower, the roles in professional help, process consultation,
organisational development, leadership and followership, and bad leadership. Dr Thomas took three session each day over four days. He was assisted by Stanzin Tsephel.
On the concluding day of the training, Dr Thomas took a lesson on
evaluation and looking ahead.
